Dr. Gary Hylander’s monthly lectures are one of Fairing Way’s most popular offerings. “I wish I had known him in high school,” Fairing Way resident Pat Flynn says of Gary. “I lived a whole lifetime not knowing how much I love history!”
Gary earned his PhD at Boston College and has been a professor of history at Framingham State University and Stonehill College, as well as a public affairs commentator on local cable news and radio. He knows American history inside and out, has an amazing recall of details and facts and is as much fun to watch as he is to hear.
“He’s energetic, not dry at all, and makes learning about history fun and interesting,” she adds. Gary is planning a six-week offering for Fairing Way residents on Friday mornings beginning in February. “Fords, Flappers and Fitzgerald” will explore the exciting 1920s.
