Resident Spotlight: Meet Phyllis Jennings

by Fairing Way

Phyllis is a retired teacher who has lived at Fairing Way since its opening three years ago. She lived in be a slave to her house as she grew older. She lived in Randolph for many years but didn’t want to be a slave to her house as she grew older. So, she reserved an apartment at Fairing Way just after construction began, “right-sized” her lifestyle, sold her house and moved to Fairing Way.

“It’s great! I can travel whenever I want and not worry about the lawn or the snowy driveway. And the therapy I received at Dwyer Home after my surgery this summer was top notch.”

Phyllis was one of the first residents to utilize Fairing Way’s on-site Healing and Rehabilitation Center for physical therapy on an outpatient basis after she returned home. “It couldn’t have been more convenient. I think I recovered faster and better because therapy was so easy. I really had no worries.”

Phyllis is back to her routine, participating in exercise classes, traveling with friends and volunteering. “I’ve also really enjoyed being involved in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at UMass Boston. It’s so easy to get there with the train so close by,” she notes.

“I love my life at Fairing Way. My neighbors here have become my extended family, and I still have plenty of opportunities to interact with young people and families around the neighborhood. It's great!"
