My husband grew up in Hingham - sailing, swimming, and spending every day that he possibly could at the beach. I grew up hopelessly landlocked in Pittsburgh, PA, and didn’t see the ocean until I was a teenager. When Jay and I married twenty years ago, living in Princeton, New Jersey - 1 ½ hours from the water - we vowed that one day we would move our family to Boston’s South Shore and buy a small sail boat. Just over four years ago, that’s exactly what we did and I feel like the luckiest person in the world.
The beauty of the South Shore has brought a wonderful aesthetic dimension to and enhanced the quality of my daily life in a profound way. Raising our youngest kids on the South Shore is a great, and greatly appreciated, privilege. As early in the season as possible, we get our boat “Izzy” (named for my mother-in-law, who loved to sail with all her heart and soul) in the water and proceed to spend every day on or in the ocean, just as Jay did so many years ago.
Another wonderful opportunity came my way about 1 ½ years ago, for which I am also grateful and feel most fortunate: joining the Fairing Way team. There are a great many South Shore real estate opportunities but there are no senior living communities quite like Fairing Way.
Being sponsored by a long- and well-established not-for-profit, the William B. Rice Eventide Home in Quincy, means we are stable and enjoy a strong reputation throughout the South Shore. Our integration into SouthField, the long-anticipated, multi-generational, master-planned community, is a big plus. Unlike other senior communities in the area, Fairing Way’s SouthField location means we offer rich natural beauty, wildlife, and incredible convenience to the South Shore activities and attractions that I love.
Some of my favorite activities include heading into Boston for almost any reason; spending lazy summer days on any one of many glorious South Shore beaches; undergoing intensive retail therapy at the Derby Street Shoppes; taking scenic drives to enjoy the gorgeous South Shore real estate: and sailing off at any time in any direction on the SS Izzy. Fairing Way residents will be fortunate, too, as all of these fabulous places and activities are easily accessible from the community!
To be a part of the Fairing Way team representing a unique and forward-thinking senior living community; to have the opportunity to meet and work with dynamic, wonderful seniors; and to live on the incomparable South Shore, to boot, makes me one lucky lady!
