Future residents of Fairing Way recently joined their soon-to-be neighbors and local dignitaries for a celebratory Cornerstone Laying Ceremony to note the full buildout of this unique and innovative senior community. Celebrating the milestone (below, from left to right): Michael Pierce and Michael O’Connell, Dellbrook/JKS, the general contractor; Don Powell, treasurer, Rice Eventide, Fairing Way’s sponsor; Christopher Scoville, senior vice president, community development lending, Eastern Bank; Brian Slater, senior vice president/group head, East Boston Savings Bank; Walter Ramos, president, Rogerson Communities; Senator Patrick O’Connor; Jamie Seagle, president emeritus, Rogerson Communities; Mary Lou Thornburg, resident council president, Fairing Way; and Amy Ross, president, Rice Eventide.
On June 26th, Fairing Way, many witnessed the beautiful ceremonial laying of the cornerstone. Fairing Way, (both current and future residents), the William B. Rice Board of Directors, President and CEO of Rogerson Communities Walter J. Ramos, State Senator Patrick O'Connor, and many more were all in attendance. The laying of the cornerstone was symbolic for new beginnings, here at Fairing Way. Construction on the final phase has commenced and will be adding 107 more superior apartment homes. Preconstruction sales have already reached 60%. Projected construction time for Phase II is 15 months. Our finance partners, East Boston Savings and Eastern Bank as well as Dellbrook/JKS Construction have been committed to this project from the beginning and dedicated to bringing the last phase to completion by April 30, 2020.
Phase I of Fairing Way opened in December of 2016 with 104 residential units and has maintained 100% occupancy. Both Phase I and Phase II, current and future residents, will be able to enjoy two clubhouses, a movie theater, bistro, sunset screened porch, art studio, a state-of-the-art fitness center, dining room, library, and much more. Residents enjoy their apartment-style homes that feature contemporary design and oversized windows which offer plenty of natural light and expansive views of surrounding natural area.
After years of planning,followed by months of construction, Fairing Way opened its doors to its first residents in September 2016. Our first phase includes 104 Independent Living apartment-style homes, a two story clubhouse, and the Dwyer Home, a skilled nursing facility, which houses the former residents of Quincy's William B. Rice Eventide Home.

I was going through photos of Fairing Way’s construction journey the other day, and was amazed at the progress we’ve made on our Independent Living building. I love to walk through the neighborhood and periodically take photos of the construction progess.

Thanks to Mother Nature providing such a mild winter, we’ve made great progress on the construction of Fairing Way. We are excited to announce that Phase I of Fairing Way, which includes 104 Independent Living apartment style homes, the two story Clubhouse, and Dwyer Home, our skilled nursing facility, will open in September.

Scores of future Fairing Way and Dwyer Home residents turned out on Saturday, January 30th to sign the beams that will be part of the Fairing Way Clubhouse’s roof structure. Residents signed their names and date, with some including the unit number of their new home.

2016 is very special to us at Fairing Way, as this is the year that Phase 1 of our campus will open – our 104 Independent Living apartment homes, two-story clubhouse, and 46 bed skilled nursing facility. We have been blessed by a mild winter thus far, which has given our builders, Dellbrook Construction, the opportunity to make great progress on the project.
A group of Fairing Way and Rice Eventide employees recently had the opportunity to tour the inside of the Independent Living wing, and were amazed at the progress!

Fairing Way’s Better Living Celebration on 10/18 at the South Shore Country Club was a delightful afternoon of inspiration and good company. The event embodied the vibrancy that will be at the heart of Fairing Way. More than 70 area seniors joined us for the event which was marked by good company, engaging presenters, delicious food, and a fabulous live band.
